Why Join Troop 273
Q1. Where is Troop 273?
A1. Troop 273 has been serving Union City, N. Fremont and Newark for over 45 years. The troop meets at Pioneer Elementary School in Union City.
Q2. When do you meet?
A2. We generally meet two Fridays month. Why Fridays? So that scoutng does not interfere with academic and other activities and often a meetng time wil become a springboard of a weekend event.
Q3. Does your troop produce Eagle Scouts?
A3. Absolutely, nearly every scout that attains the rank of First Class goes on to become an Eagle Scout.
Q4. What types of activities do you have?
A4. We have practically every type of event imaginable. We do the traditonal activities such as camping, backpacking, raftng and summer camp, but we also do non-traditional events such as the City Beach Overnights.
Q5. What makes Troop 273 different?
1. We are a moderate sized troop - everyone will get opportunities at leadership positions. In large troops it can be difficult to get real troop leadership positions. Boy Scouts is about developing leaders and in Troop 273 you will get that opportunity.
2. It is a family friendly troop, we have several activities during the year that family and friends can attend such as our river rafting trip, te City Beach overnigh and horseback camping trip.
3. We don't go to the same place for every summer camp. Recent summer camps have been to Catalina Island, Wente ad Chawanakee. The upcoming summer camps are Marin Sierra and Philmont Scout Ranch.
